Public Charities and Foundations Benefit North Carolina Communities

Give voice to the people they serve
Girls on the Run has 225 councils that impact communities nationwide.
Headquartered in Charlotte, the organization inspires girls to be joyful, healthy
and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively
integrates running.

Contribute to vibrant communities
No other orchestra in America serves its state to the extent that the North
Carolina Symphony does. Each year, its 300 concerts, education programs, and
community engagement events are enjoyed by adults and schoolchildren in
more than 90 North Carolina counties.

Advance solutions for challenges facing society
United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County’s primary goal to reduce the
impact that poverty has on the lives of students, families and communities in
Asheville and Buncombe County. In 2017 alone, over 3,000 Buncombe County
residents called 2-1-1, their free 24 hour service line. Seeking housing, more
than 1,500 sought free and affordable food and over 2,500 calls were received
related to healthcare assistance.

Address societal challenges
Headquartered in Cary, the Sall Family Foundation invests in new ideas, to
promote collaboration among people and institutions for worldwide human
development. The Foundation focuses on conservation and the environment,
public health, and science, especially when these areas intersect.
