Our Mission and Vision
Independent Sector is the only national membership organization that brings together a diverse community of changemakers, nonprofits, foundations, and corporations working to strengthen civil society and ensure all people in the United States thrive.
The 21st Annual Foundations on the Hill, hosted and presented by United Philanthropy Forum in partnership with Independent Sector and the Council on Foundations, is the largest annual public policy and advocacy conference dedicated solely to the philanthropic sector. Year after year, we have demonstrated that when sector advocates and leaders come together and speak to Congress in a unified voice, we can make a lasting impact by promoting a strong sector and advocating for vibrant, healthy, and equitable communities across the country. Now, as a full public policy conference, in addition to meeting with legislators and government officials, Foundations on the Hill attendees will be able to attend pre-conference programming, conference keynotes, expert panel sessions, and several receptions.
Join Independent Sector and Perlman and Perlman on Thursday March 7 at 2:00 PM ET for a discussion on data privacy in the nonprofit sector. This program will explore how nonprofits can navigate the ever-changing landscape of data privacy and cybersecurity in order to maintain trust, protect stakeholders, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Nonprofit leadership and practitioners will be offered an overview of data privacy laws at the state levels as well as potentially applicable overseas frameworks – and their applicability to nonprofits, current developments, and trends with respect to data privacy legislation.
Join us on March 20th to share your perspective about what nonprofits, foundations, and other social sector stakeholders are facing today and what is top of mind for changemakers across the country. Over the past 10 months, we have hosted intimate gatherings in Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. The Listening Tour has informed and will continue to inform the work IS leads every day to ensure a healthy, thriving ecosystem for mission-driven organizations and individuals.
