Public Charities and Foundations Benefit Arkansas Communities

Deliver vital community services

Headquartered in Bentonville, the Walmart Foundation partners with organizations nationwide to deliver educational programs about nutrition and healthy lifestyles, reaching nearly 30,000 people. In 2019, Walmart donated more than 640 million pounds of food, over 55% of which was fruits, vegetables and meats. By working in partnership with local organizations, the Foundation helped improve equitable access to communities experiencing food insecurity.

Lift up public service and civic engagement

The Center on Community Philanthropy at the Clinton School of Public Service, University of Arkansas, promotes giving as a core aspect of public service. The center is a leading voice for issues of racial equity within philanthropy.

Contribute to vibrant communities

The Arkansas Art Center, a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors, combines the wealth of visual arts in their galleries with unique, interactive programs in spoken word poetry, dance, and theater. For over 50 years, the museum’s Artmobile has brought pieces from the permanent collection to communities throughout the state as part of its year-round arts educational outreach.

Advance solutions for challenges facing society

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas devotes 90% of its sales from donated goods to programs for adults with developmental disabilities and other barriers to employment. In 2018, the network of 34 stores secured 7,598 jobs and helped serve 18,635 individuals find meaningful careers in the community.
