Swami Jaya Devi Bhagavati is an urban yoga monk, who teaches meditation, conscious breathwork, yoga and the contemplative arts internationally. She in an inspiring and beloved spiritual teacher who works tirelessly to uplift people and reconnect them to their passion and purpose. Swami is known for helping people pull forth the deepest realm of their inner heart so they can then share that with the world.
Swami Jaya Devi is the Founder and Spiritual Director of Kashi Atlanta, a nonprofit urban yoga ashram that has served Atlanta for 21 years. For decades, she and Kashi Atlanta’s Mindfulness Team have been leading people and organizations in how to use meditation, yoga and mindfulness to improve the quality of their lives and work. In recognition of her decades of work with marginalized communities including minorities, LGBTQ, HIV/AID+, the homeless, and addiction recovery, Swami Jaya Devi has been inducted into the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College and has served as Grand Marshall of Atlanta Pride. She has also taught at the Parliament of World Religions, the CDC, the Fetzer Institute, CARE, Coca Cola, CNN, Turner, Upswell, DFACS, Georgia Tech Women’s Empowerment Group, Women’s Presidents Organization, Atlanta Yoga Conference, Ft. Lauderdale YogaFest, and the City of Atlanta. Swami resides in our urban ashram along with her beloved goldendoodle, Sukha.
