Emnet Sisay is Policy and Engagement Associate at Independent Sector. In this role, Emnet supports IS’s public policy portfolio to include projects, committees, advisory groups, as well as coordinating logistics for community engagement and partner outreach. Emnet brings extensive experience leading high-impact initiatives across international organizations, diplomatic missions, and nonprofits. Most recently, she served as the Engagement Manager at the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, where she cultivated partnerships, planned and executed events and oversaw the Institute’s nationwide campaign engagements. While with the U.S. Department of State, Emnet served in both the U.S. Mission to the African Union and the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. In these roles, she administered and managed the U.S. Government exchange programs and alumni, cultivated partnerships with public organizations and supported inter-governmental engagements. Emnet also designed and implemented cultural events and STEAM projects. Emnet holds a Master’s Degree in Documentary Linguistics and Culture with a focus in Culture Documentation and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
