Independent Sector’s chief partnerships officer will oversee partner engagement and resource development at the nation’s leading organization for nonprofits, foundations, and corporate giving programs

(LOS ANGELES, January 9, 2019) – Following a nationwide search, Independent Sector announces that it has selected Beth Fenger as the organization’s chief partnerships officer. She will begin her role on January 22.

Most recently, Fenger founded and led Community Impact Solutions, a consultancy focused on organizational development for nonprofits and small businesses. She also spent eight years with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), rising to the position of national director, partner strategy & volunteer engagement, where she developed BGCA’s strategies and systems for intentional and focused engagement of partners at all levels of the organization. Prior to her time at BGCA, Fenger held roles with Points of Light Foundation and HandsOn Network in the areas of organizational growth planning, capacity building and sustainability, and partnerships and community development.

“We are thrilled to welcome Beth, who comes to Independent Sector with deep expertise and experience in using organizational resources and partnerships to maximize results,” said Daniel J. Cardinali, president and CEO of Independent Sector. “Beth will serve as an exemplary thought leader for Independent Sector, our members, and the entire charitable community.”

At Independent Sector, Fenger will lead resource development efforts to fuel the organization’s new strategic plan, as well as expand and deepen partnerships with nonprofits, foundations, corporations, and individuals interested in promoting a strong civil society by mobilizing their talents, skills, and resources.

“I have been working my entire career to help nonprofits and small businesses connect people, resources, and ideas to make the world a better place,” said Fenger. “I am honored to be joining Independent Sector in an exciting time in its journey toward strengthening civil society through building strong communities across the country.”

A proud AmeriCorps alum, Fenger holds a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Trinity University.
