At a historical moment of deep national uncertainty, the inability to exercise the constitutional right to vote is an unjust reality for millions across the country.
With the pandemic getting worse, 67% of Americans expect voting access to be disrupted this fall. They don’t know if it will be safe to visit polling stations. And, for scores of Americans – especially those in predominantly Black communities – there simply isn’t easy access to polling stations in the first place.
This isn’t a partisan issue. It’s fundamentally American. And it’s one that the nonprofit community can help urgently fix.
Together, we must demand that Congress commit $3.6 billion in election safeguards to support forms of alternative voting, staffing needs, and safe polling locations. Time is of the essence because local and state officials must receive these funds immediately to prevent disenfranchising voters who have been severely and disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
Here’s are the two things you can do:
- Take 60 seconds to send an automated letter to your own representative.
- Share this call-to-action link with as many people as you can – your professional network, friends, neighbors, and family.
That’s it. It’s not a heavy lift. But if we can mobilize the full strength of the nonprofit sector, we can protect the integrity of our elections and #SaveTheVote.
