Margaret A. Von Lienen, the current director of examinations for exempt organizations at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will become acting director of the Exempt Organizations Division (EO) starting November.
Current division director, Tamera Ripperda, is leaving that post to become acting deputy commissioner of the Small Business and Self Employed Division. She has served as EO Director since 2013, following the departure of Lois Lerner after the targeting controversy.
The EO division administers tax law governing charities, private foundations, and other entities exempt from federal income tax.
