YMCA Board Leadership and Governance

Effective board leadership and governance is critical to a YMCAs success in fulfilling its mission and satisfying its not-for-profit
obligations. A strong board consists of committed community leaders who contribute expertise, time, talent, and resources on behalf of
the mission. A strong board is active in providing fiduciary oversight, raising issues of strategic importance, and establishing the vision,
goals, strategies, and resources needed to ensure the YMCA is able to fulfill its mission now and into the future. Meaningfully engaging
board members and maximizing strategic leadership are key strategies to increase board effectiveness.
