Public Charities and Foundations Benefit Louisiana Communities

Deliver vital community services
The Food Bank of Central Louisiana offers many community-driven programs including
The Adopt-A-Senior Program is designed to assist seniors stretch their budgets.
Approximately 50 pounds of food per month is given to each sponsored individual. The
Food Bank’s Adopt-A-Senior Program currently serves more than 2,300 seniors in the
Central Louisiana area.

Give voice to the people they serve
United Way of Northwest Louisiana has established works to improve outcomes in
education, financial stability, and health in the local community. The FamilyWize
Prescription Assistance Program saves an average of 43% on prescriptions for anyone,
whether insured or not, living in Northwest Louisiana. In 2018, NWLA residents
saved $206,511 on their prescriptions.

Contribute to vibrant communities
Formed in 1991, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is the oldest full-time musician governed and collaboratively-operated orchestra in the United States. In addition to the
120-plus concerts presented each year, LPO’s musicians offer training and performance
experiences to students ranging from Pre-K levels to adult.

Advance solutions for challenges facing society
Through its preservation of the Atchafalaya River Basic, the Nature Conservancy in
Louisiana aims to restore a sustainable habitat of fertile marshes, and meandering
waters. The Basin provides essential habitat for more than 300 species of wildlife and
100 different aquatic species, as well as a rich diversity of native plants.
