Tyler Hinkle (he/him) is the Government Relations Manager at Independent Sector.
Tyler drives federal engagement efforts to promote the policy priorities of Independent Sector and its members before Members of Congress and their staff. With more than five years of Capitol Hill experience, he brings deep legislative expertise and a track record of bipartisan results to champion the needs of the charitable and nonprofit community.
Prior to joining Independent Sector, Tyler served as the Military Legislative Assistant for Congressman Gabe Vasquez and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. In these roles, he managed a wide- ranging policy portfolio spanning national defense, judiciary, tax, economic policy, and housing. He developed and advanced bipartisan legislation in collaboration with diverse stakeholders to translate complex policy challenges into actionable legislative solutions. His time on Capitol Hill sharpened his ability to build coalitions, navigate the legislative process, and deliver tangible outcomes.
Tyler is originally from Dallas, TX and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Texas A&M University (Gig ‘Em!). Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his wife, playing with his pitbull Roxy, and devoting an unhealthy amount of emotional energy into the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.
