Jay Guzman is manager of policy research at Independent Sector. Jay manages research projects that examine the overall health of the nonprofit and charitable sectors.
With seven years of work experience spanning the government, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors, Jay has honed the skills necessary to foster trusting relationships with stakeholders, shape and advance legislation, and drive positive social impact.
Jay previously worked at Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, a membership association for funders and community partners. As Director of Learning, Jay facilitated conversations that helped increase visibility, dispel misconceptions, and bridge connections within the nonprofit-philanthropy ecosystem. Prior to Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, Jay worked in legislative advocacy and community organizing at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte.
Jay received a master’s in policy management from Georgetown University in partnership with the National Urban Fellows program, a rigorous fellowship for professionals committed to racial equity and social impact. Jay also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Barnard College. When away from work, Jay loves birdwatching, hiking, and cooking.
