Elaine is the associate, community building at Independent Sector. In this role, she works with the team developing leaders through the American Express NGen program and other programming such as Upswell. Prior to joining IS, Elaine lived in Brussels, Belgium for two years where she obtained her master’s degree in International Development and worked for a global civil society organization advocating for social and economic equality in the European Union and international forums. She has also worked in the ESL sector, providing student services and teaching English. She speaks Spanish and continues to work on improving her French.
