Informal workers represent street vendors, some construction workers, domestic workers, waste pickers, and many more across the world. According to The NonProfit Times, workers in informal employment account for more than 60% of all the world’s workforce, and 90% of workers in developing countries. They have also been on the frontlines for the entirety of the pandemic with no social or labor protections. The Ford Foundation has partnered with Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) to support them in their global recovery process.
