Freeing nonprofit employees from the crippling burden of student loan debt is essential to strengthening our nation’s third-largest workforce. Thanks to a variety of temporary changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, more than $11 billion in debt has been forgiven in the past two years. But time is running out to access this vital relief and the nonprofit workforce is lagging behind: only 37.7 percent of recent certification forms have come from nonprofit institutions. Time is of the essence, with these temporary provisions set to expire on October 31.
