In 2017, the Edelman Trust Barometer sent a shockwave from coast to coast with a stunning revelation: for the first time ever, the American public’s trust in civil society had dropped below the halfway mark.
Civil society had consistently been a beacon of trustworthiness and hope, even as faith in government and business declined throughout the country. If we’re going to create a world where every person can thrive, then strengthening our communities’ trust in civil society is paramount. So, how do we do that?
In partnership with the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Independent Sector is proud to publish Civil Society for the 21st Century, an eBook that features perspectives from 25 of America’s biggest thinkers on how civil society can and must evolve in the decades ahead. Their ideas about the future are as diverse as America itself.
