Paul is a proud West Virginian recognized for being a change agent, and results-oriented leader. Paul serves as President and CEO of Philanthropy West Virginia. Philanthropy WV is the professional leadership organization for philanthropy including the trustees, board members, CEOs, program staff and professional advisors for private, family, corporate, community, and public foundations, giving programs, and companies in the Mountain State. He is the youngest CEO of a regional association of grantmakers in the country and he has transformed the organization to a Change Agent and Leader in West Virginia with nearly 80 members. His impact has been in shaping improvements and growth in the state by creating solutions working with the private-public-philanthropic sectors.
Nationally, he was recently elected to serve on the Forum of Regional Associations Board of Directors, the largest network serving philanthropy in America. He is a member of the National Government Relations and Public Policy Committee for the Forum and chaired the 2015 Forum National Conference Committee. He participated in the 2015 Georgetown University McDonough School of Business’ Global Social Enterprise Institute’s New Strategies Forum and presented at the U.S. House of Representatives Philanthropy Caucus meeting. In December 2014, he attended the White House Convening Community Foundations: Vital Leadership for America’s Future. At the state level, he is one of the co-founders of the WV Nonprofit Association serving as a current strategic advisor, board member of Leadership West Virginia, former member of Generation WV’s Public Policy Committee, board member of Bethlehem Farm, and member of the Morgantown Chamber of Commerce. Paul’s past leadership achievements include: Co-Founder and former founding Chair of Generation West Virginia – WV’s and recognized as the architect of WV’s young talent movement, founding board member of Generation Morgantown, former Chair of the Governor’s Council of Young Talent for Governors Manchin and Tomblin, co-founder of the WV Young Leadership Conference and partnerships with the WV Roundtable, founder of the WVU Extension Service’s Family Nutrition Program formerly Souper Cupboard Program, co-founder of the Doddridge County Education Foundation, past President of the KYOWVA Planned Giving Council, and former member of the Nazareth Farm Board of Directors, along with many other leadership roles over the past twenty years.
Paul has been recognized for his professional and civic leadership impact with the 2014 West Virginia Wesleyan College Young Alumni Achievement Award, 2014 WV Executive Young Gun, 2010 Young Emerging Leader of the Mid-Ohio Valley, 2009 Generation Next: 40 Under 40 by the State Journal, 2008 Leadership Mon graduate, 2005 Leadership West Virginia graduate, 2000 Bonner Scholar graduate, former AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA, and recently a White House Fellows Regional Finalist. He is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College as a double major in Communication Studies and Political Science and is a Doddridge County, WV native who now resides in Morgantown.
