After years of government and business development experience abroad, David became Director of Workforce Development at Safer Foundation in 2008, where he oversaw employer partnership development and growth. Safer is one of the nation’s largest non-profit providers of holistic workforce services exclusively targeting people with arrest and conviction records. In 2014 he was named AVP of Model Development, where his responsibilities included researching, designing and implementing new model programs. In 2021, he was promoted to VP of Strategy and Innovation, a new role responsible for advancing innovative ideas and business practices designed to reshape reentry. David has presented nationally on emerging workforce issues, has a Bachelor’s degree in Science, a Master’s in Business Administration, both from Curtin University, Australia, a Certificate of Executive Leadership from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, and is a Fellow of Aspen Institute’s Sector Skills Academy.
What drives you to do what you do? “Education and employment are necessary elements to survive in today’s changing world, but too many people are left behind with few options. My mission to help pave the way to greater understanding, more options and vibrant communities is what drives me to create alternative pathways for those left behind.”
