Independent Sector, the Council of Foundations, and the National Council of Nonprofits have united in opposition to the House tax reform bill, H.R. 1, which would dramatically decrease charitable giving and jeopardize the entire sector by opening it up to partisan political activity.
We believe both House and Senate bills as they currently stand pose a financial and existential crisis for the charitable community.
To show Congress that we are united in our opposition to the House bill and in the fight to improve the Senate bill, the three organizations took out a full-page ad in today’s POLITICO.
Please join us in this effort. Our voices in Washington, DC are not enough. We need nonprofit leaders around the country to contact their Members of Congress to tell them to vote “no” on H.R. 1 and ask the Senate to add the universal deduction to their bill.
