Troy Adkins has worked in marketing and membership for 14 years, spending the last nine years in nonprofit and association work. He is the former director of networks and member engagement at Independent Sector. He oversees multiple programs including member cultivation and acquisition, engagement and renewal, as well as customer service. Previously, Troy was vice president of member and industry development with the American Society of Interior Designers. There he was responsible for managing all aspects of membership, from acquisition to renewal, as well as sponsorship and advertising sales and fund development for the ASID Foundation.
Troy is currently a member of the Trevor Project’s DC Ambassadors Committee. Prior to this, he was a member of the American Society of Association Executives’ Membership Section Council for three years and has volunteered on advisory boards and committees for the Alliance to Save Energy, Net Impact, and Special Olympics. Working with a colleague, Troy developed the business plan for a new nonprofit launched in 2015.
Troy received his bachelor’s in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College and he is an alumnus of the Center For Nonprofit Leadership at Georgetown University. Troy participated in the fall 2015 American Express Leadership Academy and was recently selected as a delegate to the second annual 2016 AmEx Leadership Summit.
