Earlier this week, three Independent Sector staff members were among the 65 participants at the 2017 American Express Leadership Academy Global Alumni Summit. In partnership with Atlas Corps, American Express hosted this year’s summit—the third of its kind—April 3 and 4 at Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City.
In addition to alumni of American Express Leadership Academy, the Summit welcomed representatives from the different partner programs under its umbrella. Recently added to the Leadership Academy’s suite of partner programs is Independent Sector’s American Express NGen Fellows program for charitable community leaders age 40 and under.
Matt Perdoni, counsel and director of business development and Troy Adkins, director of networks and member engagement, participated in the summit as American Express Leadership Academy alumni. Pickett Slater Harrington, manager of leadership development and effectiveness, participated to represent our NGen program.
This year’s Summit included a variety of workshops and panel discussions geared toward network and leadership development. One session on Monday, April 3—a conversation between Echoing Green’s President Cheryl Dorsey and The Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Assistant Managing Editor Cody Switzer—was streamed live online.
