Detroit is a special place in the Upswell story. It’s where Upswell was first conceived last January and where it was introduced to more than 1,500 energized changemakers in November. And, in the time between, we learned a ton from the people hustling day and night to make a difference in communities throughout Detroit.
As we look toward Los Angeles in November, this lab is designed to strengthen a powerful connection between LA and Detroit, and, more importantly, between changemakers like you who are doing the hard work of improving communities.
Our aim is to dive into the cross-cutting issues facing both cities and the country at large – homelessness, the environment, immigration, health, youth development, criminal justice, education, and workforce development – and ask a big question:
If we were to think differently about these issues – considering different angles, tapping unexpected resources, experimenting with bold ideas – what might be possible?
There is no fee to participate, but registration is required.
