Our Mission and Vision
Independent Sector is the only national membership organization that brings together a diverse community of changemakers, nonprofits, foundations, and corporations working to strengthen civil society and ensure all people in the United States thrive.
On Tuesday, April 16, you’re invited to join a diverse focus group of nonprofit leaders to share recommendations for policy and practice change. As a continuation of the in-person focus group sessions at the 2023 Upswell Summit, this virtual focus group will serve as a platform for attendees to ask questions, interrogate research findings, and work in partnership with other changemakers to shape interventions to resolve barriers and participation gaps in nonprofit advocacy.
Global Volunteer Month in April is a time to celebrate volunteers and inspire volunteerism around the globe. With volunteerism on the decline, it’s never been more critical to spread the word about the importance of volunteerism worldwide. Visit Points of Light’s website to learn how you can volunteer, recognize a volunteer, and take the pledge to become a Hero. For questions about Global Volunteer Month, please contact Amy Marquis, director of communications at Points of Light, at amarquis@pointsoflight.org.
Get early bird pricing when you register by March 31 for the 2024 Points of Light Conference, June 11-14, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis Houston. You’ll enjoy 70+ workshops with actionable takeaways led by industry experts. You’ll also be inspired by compelling keynote speakers and panel discussions, and make connections with fellow changemakers. Pricing starts at just $625 for nonprofit organizations.
We all encounter ethical dilemmas in our daily work with and for community, but rarely do organizations focus on ethics related to volunteer engagement. This 90-minute session will help practitioners understand the difference between personal, organizational, and professional ethics. The core values and principles identified by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA) will be shared.
