President Obama has signed comprehensive health care reform legislation. Its provisions will mean significant changes for nonprofit organizations, their employees, and the people they serve. NONPROFIT HIRING INCENTIVES in New JOBS BILL
House passes bill to repeal cell phone recordkeeping

The just-passed Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act includes $13 billion in payroll tax incentives for businesses and nonprofits to hire new workers.

The Senate must now act to repeal onerous record-keeping requirements for employer-provided cell phones and mobile devices.

NONPROFIT TAX EXEMPTIONS AT RISK

The Senate and the House have both passed legislation to reinstate this important tax incentive, which enables older Americans to make tax-free gifts to charities from their IRAs. They now must resolve differences between the two bills.
