Public Policy Estate Tax Reform
Estate Tax Reform Sample Letter Dear Senator ____________: On behalf of [your organization], I am writing to ask you to pass HR 4154 to permanently extend the estate tax at 2009 levels and restore this important charitable giving incentive and essential source of federal revenue that expired in 2010. Our nation cannot afford reduction or repeal of the estate tax. In these difficult times, we need this very strong incentive for people of great wealth to give back through their estates to support services vital to healthy communities. We also need the estate tax as a significant source of revenue for the federal government that funds diverse programs upon which many Americans rely. The estate tax legislation passed by the House, HR 4154, meets these needs as well as provides certainty in estate tax planning and protects virtually all family farms and small businesses from estate tax liability. I urge you to vote for HR 4154 and to call on Senate leaders to support bringing this important piece of legislation to the Senate floor. Sincerely,
