Dear IS Members,
In the last few weeks since I’ve started as President and CEO of Independent Sector, I have had the great honor of meeting with many of you to continue important conversations about how together we can advance the common good.
As part of our effort to work together to lift up the charitable sector, I am happy to announce that we’ve made a new hire at IS. Today, we welcome Victor Reinoso as our new chief operating officer (COO).
As COO, Victor’s main duty will be leading our shift to an operational model that integrates and leverages technology as a primary vehicle for advancing our mission and engaging our community. Within his portfolio of responsibilities at IS, Victor will be overseeing up our membership department, as well as finance and administration, technology and data management, business development, and conference and knowledge sharing.
Prior to joining IS, Victor worked in a range of entrepreneurial leadership roles across sectors. As senior advisor to Bellwether Education Partners, he advised on projects involving public sector work, innovation, and finance. Previously, Victor founded Hopscotch Ventures, a mission-driven investment and advisory firm with a diverse portfolio of technology, real estate, and community development projects, and Decision Science Labs, a K–12 analytics platform linking school-level spending to outcomes. Victor also served as the District of Columbia’s first deputy mayor of education, where he oversaw the city’s education agencies and a more than $1 billion operating budget. Before becoming deputy mayor, Victor was an elected member of the DC Board of Education.
I believe Victor will make an excellent addition to our team as we move toward becoming a more effective and strategic organization, and working more collaboratively with you and other key stakeholders. He joins us as we are deep in planning 2017 and beyond, and I expect him to be a critical partner in getting us from planning to execution.

Thank you all for your excitement and commitment to the future of Independent Sector. I look forward to achieving great things together!
Sincerely,
Dan Cardinali
President and CEO
