Carolyn Mollen, chief financial officer at Independent Sector, is featured in the July/August edition of The NonProfit Times‘ Exempt magazine in their “Ten Questions for the CFO” feature.
She discusses how she began her career in accounting after serving as an accounts payable clerk at a nonprofit theater. As IS’ CFO, Carolyn has a diverse workload to which she brings skills in communication, patience, multi-tasking, and attention to detail – all essential traits of good CFOs, according to Carolyn.
Carolyn also discusses that the key to getting more women to pursue jobs in finance starts with cultivating a love of math in girls and increasing financial literacy. Her enthusiasm for learning has led her down a path to becoming a CPA and a rising star among nonprofit CFOs. In fact, Carolyn was named the 2016 Nonprofit CFO Rising Star late last year.
We are proud to have Carolyn on our team.
