Today’s children have less contact with nature than any previous generation, spending twice as much time indoors as their parents did. With the nation’s children facing serious health problems associated with lack of physical activity and outdoor play, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) is striving to make a difference through the Be Out There Movement.

The mission of Be Out There is to give back to children something they don’t even realize they’ve lost: an appreciation for the great outdoors. Children who spend regular time outdoors are healthier and happier.

NWF is working to  inspire children to view the outdoors as their favorite play space where they can move, dream and discover. Children, parents, and teachers can find ideas and resources at www.BeOutThere.org. Family by family, community by community, Be Out There™ will help the nation’s children experience the wonder of the outdoors and instill a love for nature.
