(Washington, D.C., June15, 2007) – David L. Thompson has joined Independent Sector as director of legislative affairs. In this role, David will help advance tax, budget and other legislative and regulatory positions that strengthen the ability of charities and foundations to serve communities.
Before joining Independent Sector, David served as director of labor and pensions policy and most recently as senior pension counsel to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Prior to working for the Committee, David worked for Berman and Company where he held the position of director of federal policy. As a partner at Thompson & Thompson for 17 years, David specialized in labor relations, employment law, government contracting, and government relations.
David holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
